Phew, this week just fleeeeeeewwwwwww by! I have a series of work conferences all next week so I'm trying to get ahead on paperwork...seems like I bury my head in papers and computer screens all day and don't take a breath until it's time to leave!

The weather locally definitely took a turn into 'Fall' this week, and the leaves are starting to turn as well! So lovely :)

This week was another busy one and I'm glad it's almost the weekend! I'm dog-sitting for some friends and hoping my puppy gets worn out enough that I can chill with her and have a relaxing girls' night in with a friend on Saturday. All in all, I'm looking forward to relaxation time!

As per yesterday's post, I stopped by Nordstrom last night to compare the Marc Jacobs vs. Halogen purses in p(urse)on. I ended up buying the Halogen purse--the leather is really lovely, the interior has more space and organization than the MJ, and the bottom part that unzips reveals such a fun flash of color!

While at the mall, I also stopped by the Gap to check out the long-sleeve version of my favorite running/yoga tanks (shown on Monday's outfit). The long-sleeve version has holes in the sleeves for your thumbs, which I always like, and they fit so nice and comfy! Definitely going on the to-buy list next time the Gap has a 40% off sale :)

This week was a strange one. I had a fun weekend with a girlfriend from college, then Utah celebrated a made-up holiday Pioneer Day so I had a day off of work on Wednesday! Yesterday, ironically, I wore a very boring outfit so I showed what I wore to a Flaming Lips concert last night instead. This morning was a struggle to wake up so I threw on my favorite statement-making pants and let them do all the talking for me today.

What I'm Wearing Weekly: July 13-19

Unlike the past several weeks, this week seemed to fly by! My number of patients has about doubled post-Angelina Jolie's announcement about her mastectomies and BRCA mutation (the majority of patients I work with are being evaluated for BRCA mutations), so each day I put my head down, slog through a pile of work and patient consults, and don't seem to breathe until it's time to leave!

Needless to say, I'm ready for a vacation. I have a friend visiting for the weekend, so I'm adopting a staycation attitude for the next several days!

As you can see, I'm getting great use out of my Aerosoles wedges this summer! So comfortable and they go with everything. I also stopped by a few thrift stores this week and filled in some holes in my closet for pennies--Wednesday's booties, Thursday's white jeans, and today's denim jacket were all thrift shop purchases for less than $9 each!

This week was another long one (I feel like that's been my refrain all summer...). Saturday and Sunday were spent in workout clothes, running errands and cleaning my house. Work has been hectic lately (I work in genetics and there have been all sorts of crazy effects of the Supreme Court case against Myriad Genetics...ugh). I'm looking forward to a little R&R this weekend, and hopefully finishing the coffee table I've started! More on that soon... :)

What I'm Wearing Weekly: June 29-July 6

Happy fifth of July everyone! Did you enjoy your holiday? My boy and I had gone hiking and camped overnight on the third with our puppy at the top of a local mountain peak and got to see fireworks from all over the Salt Lake valley.

Unfortunately, the trade-off was that we got caught in an unexpected thunderstorm--as in, right in the effing middle of it. Terrifying. Our puppy was much less fazed than I, thankfully! Our tent leaked (joyous), so after a sleepless night we headed home early and spent our fourth recuperating with lots of movies, 30 Rock reruns, and Greek food. It was pretty great, actually!

Outfits were a bit boring this week, not going to lie. My favorite thing is the fuschia shift I bought 40% off at the Loft last weekend--this picture doesn't do it justice, and it's about the most comfortable dress I own. To see someone who wore it much, much better than I, pop over and check out Kendi's outfit (posted the same day I wore it, no less!), which singlehandedly drove me down the dark tunnels of the internet in search of the perfect minty blue heels and earrings. I think that color is flattering on just about everyone, and it makes you feel so happy :)

As for Saturday's look, no, I'm not preggo, the regular version of the dress just sold out before I had a chance to clip it to Polyvore. Ha.

I've realized in doing these posts that I have very little clothing that is not neutral. Like, I have one single necklace that has any color to it whatsoever. Working on it though--this week I bought a mint blazer similar to Monday's look, and I'm still loving on my hot pink flowy trousers!

Lots of repeat items throughout the week and from last week. My favorite outfits this week were Monday and Tuesday--both were so comfortable and I received nice complements. Warning: if you're contemplating buying those crazy awesome floral pants, be prepared for middle-aged men to stop you in the cafeteria to tell you they 'like your style' and that you remind them of the 'bottom half of a kimono'... :)

What I'm Wearing Weekly: May 12-17

I'm a fan of style blogs and street style images to help jumpstart my creativity with my own wardrobe. But sometimes, I look at what style bloggers are posting and just think, WHERE could they possibly be wearing that?!

Case in point: 

Blazer, distressed boyfriend jeans, heels, grey tee, fancy statement necklace. I actually really like this outfit, so I'm not trying to dog on the style--but where in the world would one wear it? Not at my work, and it's too dressy to take in a game and too uncomfortable to run errands in. No. Not happening.

I get that a lot of style bloggers work in the creative field where more casual/creative dressing is perfectly acceptable...but a lot of us don't work in a similar environment and yet we still want to dress cute and creatively.

Sooooo for anyone who works in a work environment like mine, I've decided to start posting what I wear on a regular basis*. I work in a hospital, where matching pant suits are not the norm, nor are jeans or Tshirts. Most of my female coworkers wear dress skirts or pants and a nice top, or simple dresses. Most of my male coworkers where slacks and a dress shirt, with or without a tie.

The goals of posting my outfits are 3-fold and mostly selfish: 1) To give readers a closer glimpse at my own style, because I always like to read blogs where you get a sense of who the author is; 2) to provide some outfit ideas for those of us that work in a slightly more restrictive environment than many style bloggers; and 3) to give me a working library of outfits I've worn, so that on those mornings when nottttttthhhhhing is working, I can just pull up one of these posts and recreate a look that's worked for me in the past. Lazylazylazy!

Another thing that is sometimes frustrating when reading style blogs is how many times you see "c/o," meaning that the item was gifted. Most of us don't have that blessed side-effect of our jobs, so we tend to work with a set wardrobe that needs to be remixed to get the best use. I think it will be interesting for me to see which items I wear the most and least, and to challenge myself not to repeat outfits just because I'm lazy.
