Battling melancholy

All my friends from home are going to my college homecoming next week, and I'm stuck half a country away. Makes me miss home and my friends a lot, so I decided to put together a post of images that make me feel 'at home'.

3 fabrics for my living room

Our little house has really been shaping up in the last few weeks--we repainted a chandelier, put up a cute wall decal, made some pretty fabric panels for the walls, and got a new rug. I've been searching for fabrics to make pillows to match our color scheme of sky blue with accents of varying shades of green and some glass-topped brown tables. Here's what I've found, whaddya think?:

I'm not convinced on the second one, but I really like the other three together. From unknown source, Jane Churchill and Premier Prints.

New. Favorite. Designer of all Time.

So I came across a designer through another blog yesterday, Krista Ewart. I was perusing her site and realized that, over the last year or so, I had saved a TON of her images as favorites without even knowing the same designer was behind them all. New. Favorite. Designer. See the beauty below :)

I love all the random patterns that are here, yet the room doesn't look busy or crowded because of a unified palatte.

Girliest. Kitchen. Ever.

Her trademark is cheery, bright rooms with a lot of visual interest. Don't you just want to live here?

Pretty sure this was in Domino and I've seen it splashed across virtually ever blog ever.

Lastly, I tagged this photo as an easy DIY--paint a branch, create a large visual statement. Purdy.

In my future...

I've decided that in my dream future home, I'm going to have a dressing room. I don't really want a ton of clothes to fill it up--I'm actually working on paring down possessions--but I think a dressing room would be a perfect place to hang out and do girly things or just lounge around and read a book. Oh and get dressed too I guess. I'd settle for something along the lines of these rooms.....

This one's fun, funky, looks like you could make it on a fairly small budget (yay IKEA)

Versus this one, which I'm pretty sure is deceptively expensive and a little more cold. Personally I'd love to combine the large mirror, chevron rug, suzani couch, and awesome dresses of the first one with the gorgeous fireplace and loads of shoes in the second one. Dream on, Meghan, dream on....

Bumming....

Chopped off all my hair yesterday. Well, 8 inches to be exact, which if you know me know is pretty much all my hair. The point was to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths program, which I prefer over Locks of Love because 100% of the hair they get goes to making wigs for cancer patients. I do believe the wigs are free, too, but don't quote me on that. Versus Locks of Love, which gets such a surplus of donations that they sometimes sell them to wig makers and use the profits for the program.

Anyway. I digress. The point is, I chopped off all my hair and now look like a schoolboy from the '90s. Not so happy, but hey, hair grows back. The moral of this story is I need to look at pretty pretty things to distract me from the not pretty pretty things in my life (aka my hair right now....wow I'm living a pretty good life if that's the worst thing I can think of). So anway, on to some pretty prettiness: Feast your eyes on this candy :)

Books in the fireplace? Genius.

Jonathan Adler can do no wrong in my book. Except maybe those vases made out of boobs. Yeah, those kind of creep me out. But this image, my friends, this is perfection. Extreme glamour....YES.

I'd live here very gladly.

This is actually a showroom....loving the curtains and bright pink couch. Maybe I'm having a pink moment, subconsciously rebelling against the manliness of my hair. Sigh.

Looks like you could really live in this space.

Is this not the chicest, most feminine little girl's room? That table! That rug! The mismash of muted colors! I want!

Head/footboard. Gaw-jus.

CANNOT get over this industrial-chic headboard. What a great DIY project that really instills the room with a sense of movement and personality.

I'm really really into this for some reason. I like the giant mirror in the corner of the room.

Bah! Those coral-painted, laquered tree stumps! They kill me!

I'm going to go drown myself in homework and once I can't take it anymore, I'm picking up a bunch of hair products in an effort to look female again. GAHhhhhhhhhhhhh wish me luck.

20 favorite living rooms

The title says it all....and the pictures speak for themselves. Sorry if I'm reposting some I've used before--you know it's love then :)
